RIGHT CLICK ON THE DESKTOP, CLICK "NEW" THEN CLICK "SHORTCUT". A SHORTCUT CREATION WIZARD WILL POP UP, IN THE LOCATION PART TYPE YOUR CODE, FOR EXAMPLE "shutdown -s -t 60 -c YOUGOTOWNED" AND WHEN THE SHORTCUT IS OPENED THE COMMAND WILL LAUNCH. THIS WAY YOU CAN PUT A KEYBOARD SHORTCUT FOR YOUR FILE.

you can also use cmd to logoff your computer. just do the same thing you would do to create any other .bat file. FIRST: start, all programs, accesories, notepad. SECOND: the only thing you should type is, "logoff" THIRD: click file, save as. save it as saying anything you want to but YOU HAVE TO ADD THE ".bat" EXTENSION. for example: "logoff.bat" (without the quotes). save it anywhere you want to, preferrably to your desktop, so you can access it easier. then exit Notepad. go to where ever you saved it, then click on it. your computer should logoff.

This is a pretty basic and easy way to change your IP address if you need or just want to.
1. Open CMD (Duh!) 2. Type "ipconfig /release" 3. Type "ipconfig /renew" If you just want to see what your IP address is: 1. Open CMD 2. Type "ipconfig" It will say C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>ipconfig Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : ????????????? IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <----------- This one if you can't read Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx I'm not stupid enough to let you see my IP address even though that one wouldn't really be mine cause I'm not on my Computer.

Hello, i need some help on the network shutdown batch trick. I have full access to all of the computers on my network, which is appx 30 comps, and i want to be able to shutdown one of the computers on the network, or all at the end of the day, using a self-created batch file. I know i did it right, so heres my problem, once i entered the correct shutdown process for a specific IP address on my network, i get Access Denied. I am the administrator here, and i have access to admin accounts on every computer, can someone tell me why i am getting this error message and how i could fix it? Thank you in advance.

i did exactly what you are telling me to do. when i did it, i saved it to my desktop, then when i clicked on it, command prompt comes up, but instead of doing the command, it looks as if its executing that command over and over again, like really, really fast. when i click the "x" (its not full screen) the window goes away as if nothing ever happend. the thread that i put just a couple of days ago saying how you can log off your computer by writing a batch file. it dosn't work any more. is there something that im doing wrong? or somthing that i need to do?
